Following the death of King William IV in 1837 the United Kingdom entered the Victorian age. Queen Victoria was 18 years old when she inherited the throne. Her coronation was on the 28th June 1838 at Westminster Abbey, London.
I have used mostly stocking stitch throughout the doll, using simple fair isle knitting for the decoration around the edge of the skirt & the bodice. I have added a simple picot hem for the bottom of the skirt.
The legs, body & head are knitted all in one, which I believe makes knitting the doll simpler with fewer pieces to add during the construction of the doll.
