I have used double knitting wool in this pattern, but using double thread throughout. This is the same as chunky knitting wool, but I have plenty of double knitting wool and it is a good way to use up slightly different shades of colours. It is also knits up quicker, which I love.
I have used 4mm & 5mm knitting needles, and the pattern is very simple. There is quite a bit of weaving colours into the back of the work, so this pattern would suit an intermediate knitter.
The pattern is very simple, in that the two sides are just oblong, with no decreasing during knitting.
