Russian Blackwork Design |
This design is adapted from the corner of a 19th Century Russian linen towel. The towel is part of the Embroiderers' Guild collection. The original pattern is embroidered in pink silk on linen.

I was inspired by the blackwork of the collar from the portrait of Mary Tudor (1516 - 58), which is at The National Portrait Gallery, London, UK.
