I wanted to learn a couple of new skills this year, 2019. I decided on improving my knitting skills, exploring texture & colour, I also wanted to learn 'Blackwork', something I have wanted to do for many years.
|Blackwork Journal - October 2019|
This month, I wanted to continue working on the portrait from last month. My project from last month & this month was to pick out a pattern from a portrait & reproduce it as a piece of blackwork, on Aida canvas.
This is the blackwork pattern, taken from inside the collar of the portrait.

A close up of the blackwork on the collar & bodice.
I used Black DMC embroidery thread. I used 3 strands of thread in this design.
A blackwork pattern, based on the clothing from 'The Lady in Green' portrait by Agnolo Bronzine (1503-72).
