I wanted to learn a couple of new skills this year, 2019. I decided on improving my knitting skills, exploring texture & colour, I also wanted to learn 'Blackwork', something I have wanted to do for many years.

Blackwork journal - May 2019 |
I was given a large box full of silk threads. I am unsure of the age, some people think c1940's, others think possibly earlier. I couldn't decide what to do with them, should I keep them preserved as they are, or use them as they were intended? I think they should be used, with the cardboard roll included in the project book. This will show the history of the thread.

Blackwork Journal 2019 |
In May 2019, my husband & I stayed in our caravan, with our little dog, at the Sandringham Estate, Norfolk. We were surrounded by the Country Park. My design is leaves & trees.
I used two colours for the blackwork. Green & brown. I used Alderman pure silk threads, using double thread.
The leaves design I found in a book, but I created the tree pattern.
I really enjoyed stitching this design, what a lovely memory from a very enjoyable week away.
